The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a nationwide enforcement alert today about our drinking water.
The fear is that drinking water systems are vulnerable to cyberattacks.
In fact, the EPA's alert explains that, quote, "cyberattacks from adversarial nation states have already impacted water systems of all sizes."
Possible impacts include:
- Disrupting treatment, distribution, and storage of water for the community
- Damaging pumps and valves
- Altering the levels of chemicals to hazardous amounts
